Magic Lantern I & II

The sculpture-series is based on Daniel Schnyder’s composition ‚Aladin’. They were presented at a solo-show accompanying a music festival at the Radialsystem, Berlin. Further more a film of the moving sculpture was projected during Schnyder’s concert which formed part of a Swiss Music Festival.
Schnyder’s composition encompasses 50 beats and 61 notes, which take reference to his age and year of birth. For his birthday he commissioned a candle...
The notes were transcribed into a graph and then established further into a 3D drawing. Through this collected data a series of sculptures in wood and acrylic glass were made. Due to its spiral-like geometry, the sculpture revolves when exposed to the heat of candles from underneath.
The graphical prints and sculptures are limited editions.
