Concept for a light installation commissioned by the town
Inspired by a visit to the steel factory in Judenburg, Austria, and the mechanics of a crank a light-installation for a footbridge was conceived. Plungers, cardan shafts, cranks and most of all the milling process of heated metal rods create the main motive for the lighting concept. The uncovered pipes along the one side of the bridge are light in such a way to show this process happing in the adjacent factory. They look like from heat glowing rods.
The other side of the footbridge shows the force of the water underneath. A crank system moves 40 rods that are slightly off-set from each other and create a moving sinus curve. The rods are light at the top to illuminate the bridge at night.
